Latin Name: Thymus

Family: Lamiaceae (Labiatae)

Main action: Expectorant, antibacterial, antispasmodic.

An herb with exceptional medicinal properties and substances beneficial to health. It contains antioxidants and antimicrobial ingredients, thanks to which it successfully fights various viruses, fungi, parasites and bacteria. It soothes the mucous membranes and suppresses the development of harmful microorganisms and has an expectorant, antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory effect. Increases oral hygiene and limits the deposition of dental plaque. Thyme soothes the stomach, improves digestion and relieves colic and other stomach discomfort.

Widespread: It grows in dry, rocky and parched places, in thickets and pastures. Widespread throughout Europe up to 2000 meters above sea level.

Content: Essential oil 0.2-1.5% containing p-cymol derivatives, the drug also contains tannins, resinous substances, flavonoids and others.

Drug used: The collected flowering aerial part (Hebra Thimi serpilli), dried in ventilated rooms or in a dryer at a temperature of up to 35 C.
