Latin Name: Teucrium Polium

Family: Lamiaceae (Labiatae)

Main action: Appetizing, toning and tightening.

It is used as a diuretic, tonic, antipyretic, antifungal, antispasmodic, antirheumatic, carminative and antibacterial agent. It is also hemostatic, caustic and hypoglycemic. Conditions in which it is most often used are constipation, impotence, pain in the stomach and intestines, and sand in the gall bladder. The herb has a hypoglycemic effect and can help control blood sugar.

Widespread: It grows on dry calcareous and silicate rocks, on sands and coastal rocks. It is widespread in Central and South-East Europe and South-West Asia up to 1000 meters above sea level.

Content: It contains up to 0.3% essential oil of yellow color with the main ingredient bornyl acetate, diterpenes with a bitter taste, tannins, flavoids, resinous substances and others.

Drug used: Pods collected during flowering (Herba Teucrii).
